Show your students how to tell the time in English and make no mistakes with this video lesson from my YouTube channel. It's a short interactive video with practical activities at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD5F-H9tJvc. After watching the video you can pair them up and they can practice telling the time using their oral skills with some flashcards.
Reporting verbs say and tell: Say y tell son verbos similares que producen mucha confusión. 1. Cuando utilizamos "tell" tenemos que añadir el objeto directo (me, you, us), le decimos a alguien algo. Por ejemplo: John told me (that) he was going to be late. ==>" You tell somebody something" 2. "Say" se utiliza para decirle algo a alguien. Es muy utilizado en direct speech acompañado del "to" . Por ejemplo: Ann said goodbye to me and left.==>"You say something to somebody" También se utiliza con el reported speech sin el "to", por ejemplo: John said (that) he would be late. ==>"You say Something" Activity 2: Say vs Tell Say vs Tell activity
Hi Christopher, I enjoyed watching the 'How to tell the time ?' video, especially as when the characters are speaking the translation into Spanish appears, so it is easy for students to understand what is being said. I also liked the explanation on how to tell the time (we say the minutes before the hour,...). Good job!
ReplyDeleteHello Christopher!
ReplyDeleteI also liked the way that the translation appears written so it is much easier for the students to understand the conversation.
It's good to see the different ways to say the time and also expressions like "I'm late" or "I'm early". Very nice job!
Hello Christopher!
ReplyDeleteI want to congrat you for this work! I like so much the video, it is clear and simple perfect for young learners. The content is presented in a way easy to understand and follow, I think a group of kids will find it interesting and funny.
And, also,I noticed that you use the most common expression in english when someone talks about the time, that made me think on the importance of giving them not only a correct input but also a useful input. The students must learn useful contents for their future life, if they don´t understand the use of what they are learning the motivation will decrease during the process.
Appart from that, from my point of view the visual effects of the video, the colours and the characters movement will be really helpful to the children motivation.
Really good job!
Sandra Ortiz.
